The quality of these knives are very good. Equal to what you see at a much higher price point. They are VERY sharp, the balance is good and they look great. People will think you spent a lot more money than you did. My only complaint is that the color of the handles do not match. One knife is a light brown and the rest are a dark brown. You can see the color difference in the picture. My only other wish is that this set came with a 3.5" pairing knife. The 5" pairing is a bit too big for cutting small fruit like strawberries. Konoll does not make a 3.5" pairing so I had to order another brand.Love this set! I've been looking for an affordable knife set with this design for a while it does not disappoint. They come extremely sharp and have a comfortable grip. I would have bought the block set but that sold out before I could. Would recommend this set if you want the forged look but don't want to pay the $100 per knife.I don't normally buy knife sets and if you looked in my cutlery drawer, you'd see that in an instant. I have almost as many brands as I have knives. I have some knives that are 40 years old that I use every day and would never part with. But knife sets seem to be a nice idea in theory but not in execution. This Konoll set might be a good example of that. Don't misunderstand - these are really, really nice knives. The heft and balance of each one is really good. The wood handle is comfortable and well crafted to fit each knife like a glove. These are excellent knives. My only complaint, and it is a mild one, is that the selection of knives is a bit off. There is a paring knife that is a bit large - it works great on larger vegetables, but I wouldn't naturally pick it up to slice tomatoes. There is a slicing knife that would be nice for small roasts, but wouldn't be long enough to handle a ham or a larger rib roast. The bread knife is wonderful, but if it was just an inch or two longer, it would easily slice my round sour dough loaves. And then there are two chef knives - slightly different but would both serve the same all around kitchen purposes of slicing. These knives are gorgeous, and have an interesting pattern embedded on the blade. They seem to be composed of a high carbon metal and should require only occasional sharpening. The bread knife may be my favorite of the bunch, as it just molds itself into my hand like an extension of my arm.I’ve always been a fan of KONOLL knives because they make quality knives that look expensive at pretty affordable prices. This knife set is currently priced at $108.20 which translates to a little over $21 per knife. I think this is a steal for a beautiful set like this because it will cost over $160 if purchased separately. The hammered style makes them look so much more expensive than they really are. I’m not a professional chef by any means but using these knives make me feel more pro in the kitchen. There’s a good heft to these knives and feels comfortable on the hand. They all come super sharp, ready for use. I find myself using the Santoku knife most often because it pretty much works for almost everything. All this set is missing is a cleaver then I can conquer any recipe in the kitchen. I find it weird that the bread knife have a different color handle than the other knives. If it’s a set, I assume they should all match. The knives came in a nice looking box, however, when I opened it, two of them came out of their foam mold and on top of other knives. The gift box can definitely be improved. I think this is a great set for someone who’s moving to their first apartment or newly weds. I will proudly display these beautiful knives in my kitchen.I have a few other knives by Konoll and they are all really nice. They are heavy enough that they feel good in your hand, but not so heavy that they are difficult to use. The blade goes all the way through to the end of the handle so you don’t have to worry about them breaking apart. The handle is wood with three rivets holding the blade in place. The handles are comfortable to hold, curved in just the right spots. The blades are very sharp right out of the box so don’t use your finger to test them. And they cut beautifully, just slicing through everything from vegetable to raw meat with ease. And that’s important because if your knife is sharp, you don’t have to apply much pressure when cutting and are therefore less likely to have an accident with the knife. Also, the texture at the top of each blade seems to make food not stick to them as much, which also makes them easier to use.I’m so happy I got this set and have a feeling I will keep these for many years to come. In addition to working really well, they also just look nice on my knife rack. And hey, who doesn’t like that?Overall, I’m really happy with this set because these are a joy to cut with. They aren’t the best knives in the world, but for this price they are really good. The quality is there and they appear to be built to last. I haven’t had the need to sharpen any of them yet so I’ll update my review if that turns out to be difficult or go badly, but I don’t antipasto that it will. These are solid steel so they should sharpen nicely when they eventually need it. For around $100, this is an amazing set of knives. The only thing that is even slightly annoying about these knives is that the handles do not seem to be sealed with anything, meaning you must be a little careful washing so you don’t dry the wood out, and it doesn’t hurt to treat the handles with mineral oil, as you would with your wooden cutting boards. Go easy with the hot water and soap on the handles and NEVER PUT THEM IN THE DISHWASHER. The handles will dry out and get ruined. The blades are full tang, super sharp, have beautiful detailed rivets, gorgeous hammer marks on the blades, and the set has a knife to cut anything like butter. I love the serrated one for breads and large meats. I love the 5 inch paring knife for most of my fruits and veggies. These should remain beautiful and super useful for many years to come if you care for them properly. I love them.
